NXAI PAN CAMP

Nxai Pan Camp is situated in the beautiful Nxai Pan National Park, adjoining the Makgadikgadi National Park.

Nxai Pan Camp is auniquely styled camp, overlooking a waterhole, on the edge of the Nxai Pan. Nxai Pan Camp is the only permanent camp within Nxai Pan National Park and is perfectly placed for guests wanting to visit this unique and beautiful area. Nxai Pan is a fossil lake-bed and therefore the landscape is largely covered by grassland, dotted with clusters of Acacia trees, with some mopane woodland in the north.

Nxai Pan is renowned for its huge springbok population. Once the rains start, gemsbok, elephant and zebras migrate to the region. At this time zebras come in their thousands to give birth at Nxai Pan. These large herds of zebras and springbok, attract many predators including  lion, cheetah, jackal, hyena, wild dog and leopard. There are also large herds of giraffe can be seen as well as eland, wildebeest, gemsbok, greater kudu and red hartebeest and on the odd occasion White Rhino.

The main lounge area is slightly raised off the ground and connected by wooden walkways to the rooms. The main area contains a viewing deck, lounge, dining area, library, curio shop and swimming pool. Nxai Pan Camp is solar powered with a generator back-up.

Nxai Pan Camp is situated in the tree line and features eight desert rooms including one family room with ensuite facilities .  The rooms are thatched with solid insulated walls to stay cool in heat and warm in the cold, essential for the fluctuating temperatures of the Kalahari. All units have ceiling fans, outside showers and private viewing decks. The rooms and the main lounge area are all slightly raised off the ground and connected by wooden walkways.

Activities at Nxai Pan Camp are varied, and include a unique fossil pans interpretation, game drives, guided walks, evening drives, and day trips to the famous Baines’ Baobabs and Pandamatenga Cattle Trail. All activities are guided, and have an accompanying tracker.

Nxai Pan Camp is in a national park and an ecologically sensitive area and for this reason there is no driving off road or at night.

Nxai pan will combine very well with Kwara Camp in the Okavango Delta, Lebala or Lagoon Camp in the Linyanti Wetlands and few days at Stanley Safari Lodge in Victoria Falls in a superb safari circuit.
