LITTLE GOVERNORS CAMP



Little Governors Camp is a mid sized safari camp with 17 tents tucked around a large watering-hole next to the Mara River in an area that teems with animal and bird life. From every veranda the view changes daily: Giraffe and Lion, Elephant and Warthog. Getting here is an adventure in itself, you first have to cross the Mara River by boat, then walk a short distance, escorted by armed guards, through the forest.

Like all the Governors Camps, Little Governors is located in one of the richest wildlife areas within the Maasai Mara close to the crossing points for the Great Migration. The year round game viewing is always exceptionally good with great big cat sightings at any time.

Each Tent has en-suite bathroom, hot water, even bidets. In keeping with safari tradition lighting is by gas and kerosene lantern or candlelight. As dusk falls the flickering lights in the forest make Little Governors Camp a uniquely peaceful and atmospheric place.

Meals are of a high standard, usually served outdoors during the day or in the candlelit dining tent.  Come the evening it’s time for chilled drinks and tall tales around the blazing campfire. Then, finally, a delicious dinner and a hot-water bottle to keep you warm in bed.

Little Governors Camp is smaller than  making it a preferred choice for Safari Club clients at a small premium, for those who require a little more luxury Governors Camp is a smaller alternative in the same location. All the Governors camps offer the same high quality, year round, game viewing with up to three activities per day.

This is one of our favorite camps in the Maasai Mara Reserve and it combines nicely with similar quality camps in the adjacent private conservancies such as Elephant Pepper Camp or Lewa Safari Camp in the Laikipia Plateau Area.
