Skeleton Coast
The Skeleton coast is one of our planet’s most beautiful places which over the past decade has had restricted access to the public.
Safari Club have a camp in an exclusive area of the national park which has been set aside as an exclusive safari experience for those who really want to leave civilisation for a short while. It is wild, desolate, uninhabited and stunningly beautiful.
Excursions in this area include visits to the clay castles of the Hoarusib River, Rocky Point, the roaring dunes, lichen fields, seal colonies, Himba villages and shipwreck sites. There are also secret water seeps that attract wildlife such as oryx. springbok giraffe brown hyena and jackals.
Walking is an interesting option as it allows us to visit pristine areas not accessible by vehicles where the vehicle tracks can damage the delicate environment. The area contains many uniquely adapted desert plants such as Lithops and Weltwitschia which can be seen on such walks.
The terrain is rugged and harsh, hence this area will be enjoyed by those looking for a true wilderness experience in one of the most beautiful areas of Southern Africa.
The Skeleton Coast National Park is usually combined in a safari circuit visiting Damaraland, Etosha National Park and the red dunes at Sossusvlei giving a very scenic and varied safari holiday.
