Thank you - we had an amazing time! We have prviously done four safaris in South Africa, Botswana and South Luangwa in Zambia, and I would say that as an all-round experience this was the best.

Rwanda Gorilla Trekking

Famed for its gorillas, Rwanda is a country of ever changing landscapes and friendly people. It is a country full of surprises.
Rwanda is famous for its mountain gorillas, a highly endangered and fascinating animal of which around half of the six hundred or so left on earth live on the mountainous slopes of the Parc National des Volcans. Rwanda is however a very varied and suprising place to visit, with rain forests, spectacular mist covered green mountains, sparkling lakes and very friendly and welcoming people.
Gorilla trekking is the main reason to visit Rwanda and looking into the eyes of these close relatives of mankind is a moving experience for which you are unlikely to be prepared. The priviledge of getting up close to these engaging, gentle and inquisitive creatures is a wildlife experience comparable to no other, which will leave even seasoned travellers to Africa deeply moved.
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is reasonably accessible as the capital Kigali has good international flight connections with Europe and the "Big Five" game viewing countries of Tanzania and Kenya. and the Park National Des Volcans is only around two hours from the airport by road.
If your time and budget permit, we normally recommend doing two treks on a Gorilla Trekking Adventure Safari in Rwanda, as you only have an hour with the gorillas, once located, on each Gorilla Trekking Permit.
Rwanda does have other attractions, including chimpanzee trekking in the Nyungwe Forest National Park and many other primates including the rare golden monkey which is also found in the same location as the gorillas. Tailor made safaris in Rwanda are therefore usually between three and seven days long.
Many clients chose to combine a short gorilla trekking safari in Rwanda with a classic "Big Five" safari of between three and ten days in Northern Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro Reserves or Kenya's Maasai Mara. It is possible to combine a two of the finest wildlife spectacles in the world by combining Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda with the Great Migration in Kenya's Maasai Mara.
