Bongani Mountain Lodge

Bongani Mountain Lodge is situated in a breathtaking mountain top location in the Private Mthethomusha Game Reserve, which borders the world-famous Kruger National Park in South West.

The Wildlife at Mthethomusha Game Reserve includes larger mammals concentrated in valley bottoms, with buffalo, white rhino, impala, Burchell’s zebra and common waterbuck occurring in good numbers. Elephant range widely as do lion and leopard. Packs of nomadic African wild dog move in and out of the reserve from the adjacent Kruger National Park. Dainty klipspringer and diminutive rock elephant-shrew dwell among boulder outcrops. The rare Meller’s mongoose is occasionally seen on night game-drives, as are the more common large-spotted genet and white-tailed mongoose.

Bongani has 20 chalets, nine suites and one Presidential suite. All the chalets and suites have a veranda and en suite bathroom. The suites are ideal for families with children aged 11 and younger as there are sleeper sofas in the sitting area.

The Presidential suite - also known as the Madiba Suite after its famous guest Nelson Mandela - has a large sitting area,two bedrooms and a sweeping view of the valley below.

The cosy bar/library, dining and sitting areas feature striking furniture with ethnic fabrics and generous decks with magnificent wraparound views. The entrance to the Lodge is spectacular, with gigantic rocks arching overhead. Ancient tribes once held their sacred ceremonies here and local legend holds that a nearby boulder will enhance your fertility.

Bongani's landscape is attractive with huge granite domes and their impressively balancing boulders to the steep slopes of the mountains, rivers and gorges with beautiful waterfalls.”

The lodge specialises in Pan-African cuisine enjoyed in the fire-lit,traditional Swazi boma or in the spacious dining area.Bush banquets are also organised at scenic spots in the reserve.
