Tanzania Safaris - Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia Islands

Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia Islands

The spice island of Zanzibar and its sister islands, Mafia and Pemba lie off the coast of Tanzania in the Indian Ocean. They are an exotic palm fringed coral beach beach and Swahili cultural destination which complement your safari perfectly.

Famous for once being the commercial centre of East Africa and the last place to abolish the slave trade, today it combines ancient Islamic ruins, noble Arabic houses with miles of white sandy palm fringed beaches and coves.

The ocean offers warm clear blue waters, picture postcard tropical islands, excellent reefs for snorkelling and diving, fantastic deep sea fishing, water sports. If you thought that wasn’t enough, visiting the Spice plantations (cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, cardamom and others) or haggling for carvings in the Central Market is great fun too.

The food is also delicious often featuring fresh seafood and fish cooked Swahili style.

Safari Club are able to offer a number of first class hotels and small boutique beach resorts to provide a fitting end to your journey of a lifetime.

The best time to visit are the drier months between July and Noevember although it can rain at anytime usually in short sharp showers. March to May are probably best avoided.
