KATAVI WILDLIFE CAMP
Katavi consists of a series of secret floodplains that open up in front of you as you arrive through their woodland fringes.
Katavi National Park, one of Tanzania’s most westerly and remote parks, is only just beginning to gain recognition for it’s beauty and the quality of it’s game viewing. It is remote in the extreme and with just 200 visitors a year is the ultimate in off the beaten track safari destinations. If you have the time and resources, it is the definitive safari destination.
Katavi wilderness camp is very exclusive and located in the best game area so that you can watch the daily movements of game between food and water and witness the drama unfold before you. The tents are luxurious in size and furnishings, and are cunningly set back in amongst the trees that line the floodplain, providing both shade and camouflage in the prime game viewing area of the park, where the wildlife will be totally unaware of your presence.
An experienced zoologist and professional guide, will host your visit and lead game drives and walks. Specially adapted 4WD vehicles are used on game drives, with two-way radio and tiered seating for visibility.
This camp can be combined in a mid range flying safari circuit with Rufiji River Camp in the Selous and a few days Chimpanzee trekking at Greystoke Mahale Camp on Lake Tanzania. If time and budget permit the trip can be further enhanced by a stay in Ruaha National park at Ruaha River Lodge and a few days on the beach in Zanzibar.
