Unusual sighting from Botswana
A great sighting for Tubu Tree this month has been that of head guide Victor Horatius who spotted an African rock python squeezing the life out of a four-month-old impala lamb. Just as the python had it in a proper grip Victor saw a leopard approaching through the grass and knew that this was going to turn into an amazing spectacle. The leopard came out of the bush, smelled and checked, and was presumably looking for the head of the snake because as soon as it found it, it grabbed the python by the head and crushed it with one forceful bite. The leopard dragged the impala from the dead python only to realise that it was not dead yet – at which point she swiftly dispatched the lamb and shared it with her two sub-adult cubs.
