Gorah Elephant Camp

The private malaria-free Gorah Sanctuary is home to one of the densest populations of elephant on earth and lies in Addo Elephant National Park just a few hours drive from the Garden Route.

The lodge itself is based around Gorah House, a national monument dating back to 1856, which has been immaculately restored to its former colonial style.

In addition to the elephant that wander at will through the park other game to be found here include black rhino, buffalo, lion, zebra and various antelope as well as excellent birdlife.
There are ten extremely luxurious colonial tented suites with thatched canopies. Mahogany furniture, gauze-draped four-posters, polished wood floors, smart bathrooms with hot showers and private decks overlooking the savannah.

The cuisine is also far from ‘bush’; colonial fine dining with an African twist is served by attentive staff either in the dining room by a roaring log fire or under the stars in the boma.

For relaxing moments between activities, sun loungers are scattered around the sundeck and freeform swimming pool.
