Lion Sands River Lodge

The Lion Sands Game Reserve is private and exclusive to Lion Sands guests only, which ensures the safari experience is highly personalised, allowing guests the time and flexibility to savour the natural beauty of the area. The Reserve has exclusive access to the Sabie River, the largest perennial river system within the greater reserve which ensures a classic safari experience through both the summer and winter season.

Lion Sands Private Game Reserve is situated in the southern portion of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, an area well known for its spectacular predator viewing.

The lodge consists of 18 luxurious thatched bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, outdoor & indoor showers. The bedroom area is air-conditioned with an over-head fan. The rooms are linked to all areas by raised wooden walkways. The lodge has a private lounge and bar, 2 swimming pools, wooden viewing decks, a secluded bird hide, private hammocks, health spa, curio shop as well as an indoor and outdoor dining area. This private game lodge offers the highest standard of service, accommodation, amenities and facilities.

Game viewing at Lion Sands is of a high standard and compares with the best in the world. Guests may see lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and other general game on game drives, as well as superb bird watching.

Wildlife activities include game drives of approximately four hours, accompanied by a qualified ranger and tracker. Guests not only get close to big game but also learn to identify birds and trees and learn about local bush lore. Night drives are also possible at Lion Hill and offer a unique experience. Nocturnal sightings might include bush babies, leopard, hyena, porcupine, genets, or other predators hunting and stalking their prey.

This excellent Sabi Sands lodge combines perfectly with similar standard lodges such as Kings Camp in the Timbavati area of Kruger or a few days at Tuningi in Madikwe Game Reserve
