Unguja Resort

The relatively new owner run Unguja Resort is a stylish up market small scale hotel in Kizimkazi on the southern tip of Zanzibar. Accommodation is in 10 spacious private bungalows, each with its own terrace with views over the Indian Ocean. All bungalows are beautifully decorated in Zanzibar style.
A stay at Unguja is a wonderful finale to a safari trip in Tanzania and will suit adventurous people looking for nature and culture without compromise and honeymooners looking for a quiet and luxurious resort with home comforts.
The hotel, restaurant and water activities are of the highest standard and integrated in the local environment to offer a true Zanzibar experience.
The resort has a beautiful garden with old mango and baobab trees in which many indigenous animals find their home. The rare red colobus monkeys often come and play. A nature trail leads down to the white beach. In the middle of the tropical garden is a large swimming pool. Here guests can relax while enjoying the services from our bar and restaurant. After diving or snorkeling, watching dolphins or after a relaxing day on the beach guests can make themselves at home in the bar area overlooking the ocean and enjoy an excellent cocktail made with fresh fruit.
The restaurant serves an excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner. The chef makes use of many local Zanzibar ingredients such as fresh seafood and exotic spices. A private barbeque lunch on one of the small deserted islands near the southern coast can be organized for guests.
Ungula Resort has Zanzibar's first PADI 5-star dive centre. Whether you are an experienced diver or a novice, the instructors give you the opportunity to discover the stunning undersea world of the Indian Ocean in a way suiting your personal wishes.
At the house reef in front of the resort you can enjoy beautiful coral, a diversity of tropical fish and other spectacular sea-life. A traditional dhow can take you to more remote locations. There you meet the big ones such as reef sharks, barracudas and sometimes even a whale shark. From September until December humpback whales are often seen.
