Zambia Safaris-Luxury African Safaris in Zambia-Tailor Made Zambia

Zambia is a large, attractive and friendly country, which, although less well known than its neighbours offers an extremely high quality safari experience.

A safari holiday in Zambia is generally less expensive  than other safari destinations particularly during the peak dry season months between July and October. Zambia offers a thrilling alternative with just a few small lodges and safari camps and far fewer visitors than its better known neighbours.

When it comes to wildlife most of Africas big game species  can be found in very large numbers and concentrations in Zambia although you will have to visit two parks to have a chance of seeing them all. Zambia was once a stronghold of the black rhino but these were poached to extinction during the 1980.s. The parks are now much better funded and supported by the government and Rhino have been reintroduced into North Luangwa National park with plans afoot to also reintroduce them to Kafue and South Luangwa National Parks.

Zambia is famous for walking safaris in the company of well trained and experienced guides in South Luangwa and Kafue National Parks. North Luangwa National Park also has a few bushcamps which specialise in Walking Safaris in a remote wilderness area with no roads.

The excellent Lower Zambezi National Park on the opposite bank of the river to Zimbabwe's Mana Pools has superb wildlife and the added attraction of canoe safaris and shorter trips on the beautiful Zambezi River as well as guided walking safaris. The Zambezi and Kafue rivers also offer excellent fishing.

A safari holiday in Zambia also has the attraction of the mighty Victoria Falls,  home to a number of exciting activities including White Water Rafting, Bungee Jumping from the Victoria Falls bridge, canoeing, elephant back safaris and flights of various types over Victoria Falls.

Please see our Zambia Sample Itineraries on this page for ideas.

There are many other National Parks. of which  few have any infrastructure at present, requiring a fully equipped 4x4 expedition to visit them. However many of these are currently the subject of feasibilty studies with a view to opening them up to tourism and creating employment opportunities for local people in remote areas. These include Sioma Ngwezi, Liuwa Plains and Kasanka National Parks.

Our safari camps are located in some of the most remote and wildest game areas on the continent and offer a combination of superb luxury and unique experience with the highest levels of professionalism.

The best time to visit Zambia is between May and October when the weather is dry and the days sunny and warm. November and December just after the first rains are also good months when the bush becomes green, birds acquire their breeding plumage and the light is superb for photography.
