MAYUKUYUKU CAMP
Mayukuyuku is a small tented camp situated inside the National Park on the banks of the Kafue River. The camp is open year round and is easily accessible from Lusaka via the tarred road to Mongu.
Mayukuyuku Camp is on the Southern edge of the Northern sector of the Park, on the banks of the wide Kafue River. Its central location makes it ideal for a first or last camp on a Northern or Southern circuit of Kafue National Park.
Mayukuyuku is one of the few campsites situated actually inside the National Park and consists of a serviced camp site and three luxury tented rooms located on the riverbank. An additional room is soon to be added and there is a plan to instal larger tents in the near future.
Mayukuyuku benefits from both excellent game viewing in this central area of the park where the animals are much less skittish than further South and also good fishing on the Kafue River.Activities include 4x4 game drives, guidede walks in the park with an armed ranger and game viewing and fishing by boat.
This camp can form part of an excellent Northern Safari Cicuit of Kafue National Park when combined with Lufupa Tented Camp, Busanga Plains Camp and Hippo Lodge.
We find this charming and friendly little camp to be an excellent choice for one or two nights in the central region of the park at the beginning of a safari. We feel that the tented rooms are a bit too small for a longer stay although we are advised that plans to replace them with larger rooms are underway.
