BILIMUNGWE BUSH CAMP
Bilimungwe is in the heart of the National Park and offers a traditional safari experience in comfortable and traditional surroundings.
Bilimungwe Bushcamp is about 50 metres from the Luangwa River, and is nestled in a grove of ebony trees. Within easy range of Chindeni and Kapamba, Bilimungwe is a popular choice for those guests that wish to walk between different camps. The southern area of the National Park also complements this characteristic, with fantastic wildlife opportunities.
Most of the walks and drives are done along the Kapamba River, which has excellent game and is very good easy walking. The camp's main feature is a small waterhole near the dining room which attracts lots of game. Recently we had a pride of nine lion try take down a giraffe in front of the campsite; an incredibly rare and awe-inspiring sight!
The camp consists of four reed and thatch chalets with en-suite shower, toilet and double vanities. Each chalet has two queen-sized beds with large mosquito nets and an individual re-chargeable lighting system. The optimum number of guests at Bilimungwe is six, however, we can accommodate eight if all in one group.

The camp has an on-site generator that is only used when guests have departed for safari. It is then switched off before their return so as not to interfere with the ambience.
The rustic dining area and fully stocked bar are constructed on raised decking with views of Bilimungwe's permanent water hole and the abundant game that it attracts. The thatched canopy provides a cool and comfortable environment in which to enjoy this idyllic setting.
Enjoy sundowners whilst splashing in the clear shallow waters of the Kapamba River. Bilimungwe is close to the confluence of the Luangwa and Kapamba, and with water on all sides, walking is particularly attractive in the riverine habitats. Game drives are on offer, but are limited due to a limited road network.
In our opinion this camp is a bit more rustic than its sister camps of Kapamba and Chindeni although still very comfortable, but it has the advantage of being located right on a waterhole which is very popular with family herds of elephant. We suggest requesting rooms one or two for the best view over the waterhole. Bilimungwe will combine nicely in a circuit with Kuyenda and Mfuwe Lodge
