ISLAND BUSH CAMP
Island Bush Camp is a small seasonal camp located on the banks of the Luangwa River in a remote part of South Luangwa National Park.
Island Bush Camp offers rustic accommodation in 5 double grass and reed huts. The huts are raised and each one has a private verandah overlooking the Luangwa River. All are en-suite and have open-air bathrooms with hot showers, running water and flush toilets. Guests can enjoy candle-lit dinners in the open under the stars.
Don,t expect a quiet night, the river in front of the camp is full of noisy Hippo's and elephant, hyena, lion and leopard are regular nocturnal visitors.

The Island Bush Camp is just two hours drive south of Kafunta River Lodge which is under the same ownership.
The camp's remote location, far away from any other camps, means that guests have exclusive access to this game-rich area. The camp offers walking safaris, led by a qualified guide and accompanied by an armed National Park scout. The Luangwa Valley is one of the few places in Africa where it is possible to walk amongst wildlife in true wilderness. During the walking safaris the guide will explain the little details of the bush, spoor, vegetation and the ecology, giving guests a true insight into the wildlife of this region.
A few days at Island Bush Camp enjoying a walking safari is often combined with a more traditional safari at Kafunta River Lodge in an excellent value safari package.
We Say, although not suitable for everybody due to its rustic nature and open aspect, and definitely not suitable for those with mobility problems, this camp will provide a thrilling wildlife experience for the more adventurous client.
