Lions of Ruaha takes you to one of Tanzania’s best kept secrets, the enormous wilderness that is Ruaha National Park.

Ruaha is in the transition zone between East and Southern Africa and consequently has a wide spectrum of wildlife including healthy numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and both lesser and greater kudu.

Ruaha is home to forty per cent of Tanzania’s lions and ten per cent of the total lion population of Africa. The Lions of Ruaha are form huge prides some of over thirty individuals and the territories are small enabling guests to frequently see several prides in one day. Such large prides require plentiful food and the favourite dish is buffalo, some larger prides have been known to bring down more than two in quick succession to feed a hungry family. When buffalo prides leave the area other large mammals such as giraffe, kudu and on occasion elephant fall prey to the hungry predators.

Ruaha contains just a few small safari camps and is one of Africa’s last truly wild frontiers.

Your small safari camp contains the only swimming pool in the reserve and is located in a remote part of the reserve where you will be very unlikely to see other vehicles as you go about your daily game drives.
