Tanzania flag Tarangire National Park in Tanzania

Tarangire National Park in the dry season can be very rewarding indeed in terms of wildlife sightings, this is a classic East African Park and scenically very attractive.

Impressive huge herds of elephants in their hundreds scratch the dry river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons.

Tarangire has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania outside the Serengeti ecosystem with all the major predators in residence.Tarangire is the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed.

DRY SEASON

The best time to visit Tarangire National Park is undoubtedly the dry months between July and October when the area experiences its own migration as animals converge on the Tarangire River the only source of water in the area and the game viewing is spectacular.

green SEASON

Apart from elephants that are normally around throughout the year many animals migrate out of the reserve during the wet season and the game viewing can be disappointing. Prices are much lower at this time

SHOULDER SEASON

At the start and finish of the dry season the game viewing is good but less spectacular than during the main dry season months.
