This flexible self-drive holiday is a wonderful adventure visiting one of the best game reserves in the Eastern Cape and then many of the highlights of South Africa’s Eastern and Western Cape Provinces.
Your holiday starts in Shamwari Game Reserve where there is good “Big Five” game viewing and excellent guiding at this top class reserve, famous around the world for its contribution to conservation of South Africa’s wildlife.
You then travel down the Garden Route stopping at St Francis Bay and Knysna to explore this region of beautiful lakes, rivers, forests, mountains and beaches, your schedule gives you time to explore the areas you visit in your hire car.
Your next stop is Hermanus, the whale capital of South Africa where you can experience some of the best land based whale watching in the world. This area is also home to Great White Sharks.
Drive on to Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands. This is another scenically beautiful area which styles itself as the foodie capital of South Africa. A chance to enjoy the local produce and maybe visit a few of the local vineyards.
