Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is reasonably accessible as the capital Kigali has good international flight connections with Europe and the “Big Five” game viewing countries of Tanzania and Kenya.
The Parc National des Volcans is only around two hours from Kigali airport by road. If your time and budget permit, we normally recommend doing two treks on a Gorilla Trekking adventure safari in Rwanda, as your daily gorilla trekking permit only allows one hour with the gorillas, once located.

Rwanda has a pleasant tropical highland climate with the lowland areas being much warmer than the highlands. It is possible to visit this park at any time but the trekking is easier in the drier seasons between Mid-December and Mid-March and June to Mid-October. It is still perfectly possible to travel during the wetter months when the scenery can be stunning and the conditions perfect for photography.
