The Zulu Kingdom is a kaleidoscope of natural wonders, ultra-modern facilities, and fascinating glimpses of multi-cultured people, a history rich in heroic deeds, bloody battles and ultimately, reconciliation – all set against a majestic backdrop of sun, sea, mountains and sky.
The most northerly region of KwaZulu Natal is known as Maputaland. The world’s highest natural dunes, brilliant coral reefs, fever tree and palm savannahs, papyrus swamps and rolling acacia bushveld are found here. The Drakensberg Mountains, with their awe-inspiring basalt cliffs, snowcapped in winter, tower over riverine bush, lush yellowwood forests and cascading waterfalls. The only road access to the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho is via Sani Pass, which, at the top, boasts the highest pub on Africa.
KwaZulu is also the location of the famous Anglo/Zulu war battlefields of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana immortalised in the film Zulu.

April is pleasantly warm with some rain but generally sunny weather.
The rain begins to lessen in May with only very occasional rain now in June through to August.
September sees an increase in rain fall with regular showers and sunny spells into October.
November through to March is known to be hot and humid with frequent showers. However the regular sunny spells compliment this well so that the outdoors can still be enjoyed.
There isn’t really a shoulder season here.
