A safari holiday in Namibia is a safari holiday with a difference, in addition to its wildlife Namibia also has some truly stunning, coastal, desert and mountain landscapes and the fascinating tribal culture of the Himba, Herero and San people make it a very photogenic and enjoyable place for a holiday.
Namibia is a country of startling contrasts straddling two great deserts: the Namib, a sea of red sand lying along the Atlantic coastline, whilst in the eastern interior of Namibia lies the Kalahari a vast and sparsely vegetated savannah sprawling across the borders of several countries. Astonishing contrasts are everywhere giving the visitor an array of sights, sounds and smells to savour which are unique to a safari in Namibia. Distances are great and although the roads are in good condition, time is required if you want to see the most interesting areas of Namibia, we suggest a minimum of ten nights for a flying safari or more if self-driving.
The optimum time to visit Namibia is during the cool and dry months between April and September, it can get very hot in October and November prior to the rains, although the country can be visited at any time of year.

During the dry winter months the day temperatures are moderate to warm but the nights can be very cold. Rainfall during the summer is higher in the far north. Further south the climate is hotter and drier. The best months are the dry season months from April to October when it is dry and wildlife comes to the permanent water sources to drink. Most lodges are open year round and it is cheaper to visit at other times. The birding is best from November to March.
