Mauritius has a sub-tropical climate, meaning it is warm all year round with rainfall tending to be in heavy and short lived showers. December to April are the hottest months at around 30oC, also the wettest and most humid. May to August are the coolest months at around 25oC with less humidity and rainfall. The best time to visit Mauritius depends on your interests. For Scuba, December to March is best as the water is said to be clearer. Surfing is good from June to August while the best time for big game fishing is October to March when the big predators hunt closer to the shore.
May through to October can be the best time to visit Mauritius where you can expect to enjoy cool, dry sunny days. Soak in the sun whilst relaxing on the beach, sample amazingly fresh seafood and explore the tropical Indian ocean.
November to April sees the hottest temperatures, you can expect to experience humid conditions.
The wettest months come during the wet cyclone season, from January to March.
Avoid the east coast in July and August when the wind is at its strongest.
July to September experiences a drop in temperature during their winter months, a mean average of 20 degrees C. Days are cooler and occasional short shows can be experienced, however these are most common during the evenings. This is a great time for those looking to be more active.
